Frac Pumps

Our momentum has remained unmatched. As head of technology for our oilfield service partner, Turbine Stimulation Technologies (TST), MTT designed and built the first successful turbine-powered fracturing or "frac" pump used in enhanced oil and gas recovery.

Turbines in the Oil Field

For years, the oil industry has depended on reciprocating engines to power its equipment, despite the known limitations of diesel engines. Characterized as having lower pump rates, being oversized and heavy, and having reliability issues, diesels have struggled to stay on the cutting-edge of industrial technology.

Therefore, MTT and TST combined to develop the jetPUMP™ Frac Pump. Powered by a split-shaft turbine engine with varying speeds for the fluid end, the jetPUMP™ has realized outstanding performance results. Unlike its diesel counterpart (which depends on gear reduction to provide enough power to overcome pressure increases), split-shaft turbines do not sacrifice pump rate.
